Wildlife Management
China puts lots of efforts in the protection of nature and environment. The country does not only stand for the symbol “panda”, but is also involved in the international conventions CBD and CITES. Especially the conservation of forest is put in the focus within the UNFF process (United Nations Forum on Forests). This project amongst others includes the establishment of protected areas and the sustainable cultivation of forests through the German government (BMZ, BMU, BMELV, KfW, giz).
Amongst other NGO’s, like CIC and WWF, ICP is involved in the establishment of a controlled hunting system based on the concept “protection through usage”. Model projects with a wide signal effect are planned, e.g. for the tropical island Hainan. Therefore additional commitment from the private sector is valuable because it guarantees a higher promotional effectiveness.
